Key Areas of Focus
The Matobo Rhino Trust is active in supporting and Promoting Rhino Tourism.
The biggest problem Zimbabwe faces today is the economy. We believe that Zimbabwe’s attractions are a Jewel and that the Tourism industry has largest potential for growth. The Rhino are a key factor in the Matopos region.
Examples of the impact of Wildlife Tourism, can be seen with the Gorillas in Rwanda and the stance the President of Botswana has taken over their Rhino and the formation of the Khama Rhino sanctuary
The challenge that Matopos National Park faces is finance. We believe that by driving Tourist numbers through Rhino viewing, the Park in time can be self sustaining. In 2015 Matopos registered 10 000 foreign visits. It is our intention to double those numbers by 2020.
The Matopos National Park is already known for Rhino conservation and has an established reputation for Rhino viewing.
No where in Southern Africa can you walk in such a majestic environment and view wild Rhino.
